India and Bangladesh today failed to sort out differences over the presence of camps of N-E insurgents and illegal immigration even on the last day of talks between BSF and Bangladesh Rifles.

While BSF Director General Ajai Raj Sharma handed over to his counterpart a list of 194 camps based in Bangladesh, the BDR DG Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam Choudhary steadfastly denied it.

The Indian side pointed out that the flow of illegal immigrants is ‘‘causing serious socio-economic problems in India.’’ Denying this, the BDR DG claimed that the BSF is trying to push ‘‘Bengali-speaking Indians into Bangladesh on the pretext that they are illegal immigrants.’’

The BSF had given a list of 100 militants believed to be based in Bangladesh. The BDR too handed over to the BSF a list of 39 anti-Dhaka terror camps which it claims are based in India.
