Award for Mikrotech
Computerised gear roll tester, an import substitute product developed by Mikrotech of Pune has bagged `Best machine tool of the year’ award in the tenth IMTEX – 98 and Tooltex ’98 exhibition held at Delhi recently.
The award has been instituted by Central Machine Tool Institute, Bangalore and Perfect Machine Tools Trust. Arun Kudale of Mikrotech received the award at the hands of former Ambassador P N Haksar.
New Dena Bank deposit scheme
Dena Bank has launched a new term deposit – the `Freedom deposit scheme’ which provides returns available on term deposit while assuming liquidity.The salient features are minimum deposit amount of Rs. 10,000 and then in multiples of Rs. 1,000 with the period ranging from 1 to 5 years; no documentation; scheme to be initially introduced in total computerised branches (viz Camp and Deccan Gymkhana) and then to be gradually extended; cheque book facility and quarterly compounded interest.
DGP Hinoday plant takes off
DGP Hinoday Industries Ltd., a member of the Rs. 80 crore Dilip G Piramal Group has diversified into SG iron automotive castings. Located at Urse near Pune, the first phase of 17,000 TPA capacity was recently inaugurated by Tetsuya Eda, president, Hitachi Metals Ltd. which has been a joint venture partner of DGP Hinoday Industries Ltd. for the past 15 years.
With an investment of Rs. 45 crore the automotive castings plant incorporates the most modern equipment from around the world backed by design and process technology from Hitachi Metals.
Constructed and installed in a record 10 months, the plant has already developed 22 products for customers covering a range of components like crankshafts, exhaust manifold, steering knuckles, differential carriers and brake parts. The primary objective of this new plant is to offer the automobile industry the lowest total cost solutions for their requirement of ductile iron castings.
Deshpande appointed
Anil Deshpande has been appointed as general manager (materials) of Central Government owned Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd. at Rasayani, Panvel. He has taken over from April 17. Earlier he was working as deputy general manager with Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd, Pimpri.
BoM workshop
Bank of Maharashtra in association with the World Trade Centre has arranged a programme on export management on April 23 at Hotel Pride Executive.
T S Raghavan, chairman and managing director of Bank of Maharashtra will deliver the inaugural address while Dr. V S Gopalakrishnan, director general of the World Trade Centre will speak on trade and growth scenario. Other speakers include the general manager of the Reserve Bank of India H R Khan, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade S L Garde and Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise G S Narang.
Exhibition
Display Creators, a sister concern of Raviraj Publicity, are organising an exhibition and sale `Yahoo ’98’, for school and college students at the New English School Grounds, Tilak Road between June 1 and 7.
On display will be school requirements like school bags, text books, guides, raincoats, shoes, stationery, computer related products, educational aids, picnic material, audio and video cassettes. There will be fun and entertainment programmes like movies, plays, magic shows, giant wheel, watergames, and mini zoo.
Board meeting
A meeting of the Board of Directors of Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. will be held on Friday, May 8 at 11.30 a.m. at registered office of the company on Mumbai-Pune Road, Akurdi to approve accounts for the year ended March 31, 1998 and to recommend dividend on equity shares, if any, for the year 1997-98.
