Ten days after the police restored to lathicharge during a Brahmin rally, the community has called for a bandh in the city on Wednesday.
The Brahmins have been demanding reservations on the basis of economic status and had organised a protest rally on August 19, asking the state Government to meet their demand immediately. The rally had been organised by the Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha which has now called the bandh.
The bandh is supported by other communities like the Rajputs and the Baniyas. These communities too have been demanding reservation for some time now. While the Brahmins are demanding reservation based on socio-economic backgrounds, the Rajputs and Baniyas want inclusion in the SC list.
