Floods continue to wreak havoc in Assam with the only road link to the entire Northeast, National Highway 31, getting snapped at two spots 8212; one near Srirampur and the other between Rangiya and Guwahati 8212; due to heavy floods that have already affected over 10 lakh people in the state. While road link remained cut off for the second day on Monday, railway services fortunately remained unaffected.

With rains continuing incessantly in Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, most of Brahmaputra8217;s tributaries have been overflowing, breaching embankments and submerging human habitations and fields in several districts of the state. Road links to Nagaland and Manipur have remained cut off due to the sinking of a major portion of NH 39.

Heavy rain and thundershowers have been forecast for Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for the next two days.
