PUNE, June 15: In a tragic incident, an eight-year-old boy, Faizan Qureshi, fell to his death while flying kite on the terrace of his house at Bhimpura in Pune cantonment area last evening.

Faizan, a second standard student of Phulban Urdu School, leapt out of the terrace to catch his kite which had got disconnected. Faizan succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the Sassoon hospital by one of his neighbours.

According to the grieving family members, Faizan had rushed to the terrace of their house to fly kite immediately after returning from school around 5 pm. After 45 minutes, he had the fatal fall, they added.

The grievously wounded child lay still in a pool of blood for about 10 minutes, till his neighbour Haji Noor Mohammed arranged for an autorickshaw to shift him to a nearby private hospital. The medicos at the private hospital treated Faizan with first-aid and advised Haji Noor Mohammed to rush Faizan to the Sassoon hospital. Faizan was immediately shifted to the Sassoon hospital where he was proclaimed dead on arrival.

The cantonment police have filed a case of accidental death.
