
A book on the life and times of hockey legend Dhyanchand was released on Wednesday. The book, called Hockey ke Jadugar Major Dhyanchand: Kahani apnon ki zubani is written by Dhyanchand8217;s daughter-in-law and gives an insight into the legendary player8217;s personal life, his relations with his family and his lifestyle and the last days of his life.
8220;Everybody in our family is mad about sports, so I thought. 8216;Why shouldn8217;t I write a book on sports8217; and made up my mind to write on Babuji Dhyanchand,8221; the author, Meena Umesh Dhyanchand, said at the release. She added that, in his last days, the Padma Bhushan awardee was disappointed with the state of the game in the country. 8220;He used to think about hockey day in and day out. Even lying in his death bed he used to enquire about the game. His last wish was to see Indian hockey regain its lost glory,8221; she said. Sports Minister MS Gill released the book that recounts not just his genius on the field but his persona off it.
