MUMBAI, July 23: Gulf Lubricant Bengal Mumbai Football League BMFC got past Bank of India BoI with two late goals in a WIFA Super Division league match at Cooperage today.
Interestingly, BoI defender Everisto Cardoz had a hand in one of the goals. The former Maharashtra skipper was guilty of handling the ball in the danger zone resulting in BMFC being awarded a spot-kick, two minutes from regulation time. Cardoz was given the marching orders for his misdemeanour. Emeka Achelifu made no mistake to put BMCF 1-0 ahead.
Reduced to ten men, BoI were soon at the receiving end in the very next minute.
Off a flag-kick, striker Herbert Philips found the net.
Earlier, BMFC were also down to ten men when Alok Das was shown the red card. This was the second instance in the Super Division that the former Mohun Bagan captain has been involved.
