Blushing red and not amused

The Red brigade is not quite happy with the Chinese Communist Party8217;s invitation to Rahul Gandhi to attend a conference in Beijing to mark the 20th anniversary of the late Rajiv Gandhi8217;s path-breaking visit to China. The CPC members, who were here to attend the party congresses of the CPIM and the CPI, also invited Rahul to inaugurate their conference, likely to be held towards the year-end. The rumour doing the rounds in Left circles is that the CPC extended the invitation on the basis of their assumption that the Congress would be on a stronger wicket after the next general election. An unamused Left leader could not help asking, 8220;What is so particular about the 20th anniversary which was not there on previous occasions?8221;
