BJP women’s wing seeks action in murder case

AHMEDABAD, Jan 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha has urged the State government to take steps against those involved in the murder of BJP councillor from Surat Nitaben Satbhaya.

Gujarat Mahila Morcha president Mayaben Kodnani said a general body meeting of the morcha was held under the chairmanship of national vice-president Mohini Gajjar. She said during the meeting the morcha office-bearers decided to celebrate 1999 as the `Nari Swaman Varsh’. She said the morcha would start Women Information Cells and Women Alert Cells in all the districts of the State. The information cells would provide details about various State government schemes for women while the women alert cell would try and prevent any crime against women in the State. She said the cell would also probe various incidents of crime against women.

Kodnani further said the morcha would initiate programmes against existing social evils. The meeting also criticised the various programmes telecasted on various television channels. She stated that may it be the Tandoor episode or burning of women corporator in Maharashtra, crime against women was on the rise.

The meeting also condemned the attack on BJP corporator by the Congress corporator.
