The BJP has decided to contest the coming Bihar Assembly elections in alliance with Janata Dal (United) on the plank of development.

Party president M. Venkaiah Naidu, when asked about other possible allies of in the state, said: ‘‘We are ready to take help from anybody who comes forward.’’ However, he made it clear that there was no specific proposal yet.

In order to match the rival camp led by Railways Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, the party would also try to forge a social alliance. Ideally, the BJP would want Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan, disenchanted with Laloo, to join hands with it.

The BJP leadership today decided to come out with a Vision 2020 document giving a roadmap for the development of Bihar. The decision came at a meeting of Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani and Naidu with state leaders. ‘‘We will focus on the socio-economic aspirations of the people of Bihar,’’ Naidu said.
