
BSE, NSE revise trading hours
MUMBAI: THE Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange have decided to revise their trading hours from Monday. Transactions on the two bourses will now be conducted between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm. The Bombay Stock Exchange has, meanwhile, said that it plans to curtail its trading session by 30 minutes from the first week of June. The new session, planned between 10 am and 3.30 pm, will be subject to Sebi8217;s approval.
ICI buys Asha Nitrochem plant
NEW DELHI: ICI India has acquired the nitrocellulose business of Asha Nitrochem Industries Limited at Valsad in Gujarat. The acquisition of this manufacturing facility fits in with ICI India8217;s focus on expanding manufacturing facilities in the industrialising parts like Gujarat, says a release. The nitrocellulose products service the manufacture of paints, coatings, personal care products and high quality leather finishes. This acquisition is consistent with ICI India8217;s vision of rapidly growing paint,materials and specialty products.
Gold flares up
MUMBAI: Gold prices flared up on account of brisk local buying and acute shortage of stocks at the bullion market here today. Silver also rose sharply due to poor arrivals through imports. Dealers said arrivals of both precious metals was hampered by a further sharp fall in rupee value against dollar. Standard gold rose sharply by Rs 90.00 to Rs 4200 Rs 4110.
22-carat gold was nominally quoted higher at Rs 3885 from Rs 3800. Ten-tola gold bar .999 purity hardened by Rs 1,100 to Rs 49,300 Rs 48,200. Silver ready .999 fineness shot up to Rs 8120 from Rs 8020. Raw silver .916 fineness peaked to Rs 8000 from Rs 7910. Tenderable silver flared up to Rs 8125.
