NEW DELHI, OCT 26: A bill seeking to extend, for another ten years, the reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and representation of the Anglo-Indian community by nomination in Lok Sabha and legislative assemblies was introduced in the Lower House today.

The bill, moved by law and justice minister Ram Jethmalani, would come into effect from January 25, when the 50-year reservation period ends, after getting parliamentary approval.

Another bill, seeking to give 100 per cent tax deduction from the total income of an assessee in respect of the contribution made as an effort to encourage contribution to the National Defence Fund, was introduced by Finance minister Yashwant Sinha.

The benefit would accrue to the contributor for the financial year 1999-2000 and thereafter.

Sinha also introduced a bill to raise the corpus of the Contingency Fund to Rs 550 crore till March 31 from the existing Rs 50 crore.
