Kolkata, February 6: Cricket Association of America, a new cricket body comprising 14 American nations, would come into existence from next month. Aimed at promoting the game in both North and South America the body would include countries besides the USA, Canada, Bahamas, Bermuda, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and West Indies, informed West Indies Cricket Control Board chairman Patrick Rousseau here today.
Rousseau made a stopover here along with their chief executive officer Gregory Shillingford on way to Melbourne to attend the ICC meeting later this week. They told newspersons that this new body in conjunction with the cricket bodies of Asian and African countries will work for the betterment and spread of the game. The new body would follow the constitution of the Asian Cricket Council and even work for various social welfare projects like blindness cure. Rousseau invited the Indian ’A’ team to take part in their domestic league, Busta Cup, held in West Indies during January to March.
Aked whether they would take any action against Brian Lara on charges of match-fixing against him, he said: “We have not taken any cognisance of the allegations so far.’’
