CHANDIGARH, SEPT 7: Bhupinder stormed into the handicap snooker final by defeating Anil Sharma in straight frames 60-48, 60-49, in the ongoing YMCA Open Billiards and Snooker tournament at the YMCA Hall in Sector 11.

Anil Sharma who had a good run in the meet so far, was off colour today. He missed simple openings which paved the way for Bhupinder’s victory.

But, Anil Sharma fought back strongly to beat a spirited Manav Dhawan 356-241 in the billiards event.

B Khurana scored a 384-335 win over Rakesh Gupta in the handicap billiards event. Rakesh Gupta who caught up his rival B Khurana, with fine potting, fumbled at the crucial junctures.

Khurana on the other hand kept his cool and hit breaks of 25 points which enable him to widen the margin of victory.

Athletics trials held THERE was low turn out for athletics trials conducted by Amateur Athletics Association of Chandigarh. The trials were organised to select the State senior team for the forthcoming Inter-State athletics meet to be held at Lucknow from September 12 to 14. During the meet, national team will be selected for the SAF Games to be held in Nepal.

The final team will be declared tomorrow.

In football Khamanon beat Amloh and in handball Fategarh Sahib edged Amloh. Other results: Khamanon beat Fategarh Sahib. Kabaddi: Khamanon beat Amloh.Principal Bashwinder Kaur of Senior Secondary School, Khamanon inaugurated the meet.

ASAI meeting today
The members of the Adventure Sports Association of India will hold their annual meet tomorrow.

During the meet ASAI will chalk its calander for the next year which will include trekking expetitions.
