
ASI Ramkumar, an accused in the alleged fake encounter that claimed a life of a college student, Kuldip, was arrested yesterday. Constable and driver Balraj, whose name also figured in the FIR managed to flee. Police have also claimed to have recovered the revolver used in the shooting. Sources said Ramkumar was arrested yesterday night but Balraj managed to escape from the police custody. Six police officials are still absconding. Meanwhile, women of different communities of Bhiwani and nearby areas observed two-minute silence in memory of the deceased. Expressing sympathy to the bereaved family, they demanded immediate compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job to one member of the family. A mahapanchayat will be organised on November 16 where future course of action will be decided, they said in a voice vote.
INSO protests
Activists of Indian National Students Organisation INSO submitted a memorandum to Governor A R Kidwai asking to him order a probe by a sitting High Court judge into the killing of 22-year-old Kuldeep. INSO chief Vikas Rathee, who led the protest, said the students would continue their agitation until the Congress is thrown out of power. They shouted anti-government slogans in protest against the killing.
