
VADODARA, Nov 12: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans emerged the winner of the Maths Olympiad, the sixth interschool competition for The Indian Express-Pepsi Talent Championship Trophy, organised here on Thursday by The Indian Express. Winning the second and third place in the contest were the Navrachana Higher Secondary School and Refinery School, respectively.
The Olympiad, involving 34 student participants from various schools, was conducted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans Director V Seshan, also a recipient of the National Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution towards Education at School Level. Conducted in three rounds, the contest comprised a written test, followed by an oral round and an audio-visual section. Winners were adjudged on the basis of their total scores in all the three rounds.
The top 10 scorers in the written test were shortlisted for Round Two in which they were asked to verbally answer non-routine questions. Four out of the 10 participants were shortlisted for the last round comprising an audio-visual segment.
Ritwik Priya of Bhavans won the first place in the Olympiad having scored the highest total marks. Meanwhile, Kokonad Sinha of Navrachana and Prerak Patel of Refinery stood second and third, respectively.
Talking to Express Newsline, Ritwik said, 8220;The questions were very good. They were apparently tough but as the explanations came, one could figure them out along the way8221;.
