MUMBAI, JUNE 4: BEST scored a facile 4-1 victory over Larsen and Toubro Lamp;T in the Air-India Trophy football tournament, conducted by MDFA, at the St Xavier8217;s ground, Parel, today.
BEST dominated the proceedings from the word go against the veteran side. They missed a couple of opportunities before they opened their account in the 15th minute.
Trevor and Dominic of BEST were involved in a fine passing bout before the latter passed to Santosh Athikari. The last-named beat Lamp;T 8216;keeper PG Khavnekar with a neat placement.
BEST made it 2-0 in the 29th minute. Santosh Chawan headed the ball home after goalkeeper Khavnekar failed to cut off a cross from the left by Trevor Nunes.
Athikari once again struck for BEST when he neatly tapped home from close, following a centre by Godfrey Patel. Dominic Pereira rounded-off the tally before RV Hosabettu netted Lamp;T8217;s consolation goal.
Earlier, Sahar Silver Stars, who trailed 0-2 at half-time, rallied to hold Worlic Sports Club in the Division IIImatch.
Jagdish Gawari scored a brace for Worli and Sayyed Abbas and Jayesh Swami netted for Silver Stars.
