PUNE, Aug 18: Cadet Smita Hiwale of the 3 Maharashtra Naval Unit NCC, Pune was adjudged the Best Girl Cadet8217; during the Nau Sainik camp at Ratnagiri. A total of 75 boys and 24 girls for the state participated in the camp which conducted various activities like boat pulling and firing among others. A student of Modern College, Hiwale also won a gold medal in the firing and other events. The NCC group, Pune won the Runners up trophy.

  • Mahesh Gosavi was elected President of Rotaract Club of Pune Shivajinagar while Shweta Pradhan and Vishal Khodake was elected Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Mukund Abhyankar, Chairman, Cosmos Bank, P H Kulkarni, Chairman, Ayurved Rasashala and Deepak Shikarpur, Chairman, Computer Society of India Pune Chapter were present on the occasion.
  • Symbiosis Primary School celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm as Lt Gen B T Pandit, PVSM, VrC, hoisted the flag. The students and staff also donated an amount to the Army Central Welfare Fund and the Queen8217;s Mary Technical Institute . Students also tried rakhis to the brothers in uniform in the occasion as Lance Naik Mohammed Khalik, Sena medal, Shaurya Chakra spoke of his brave encounters with the enemy. Dr S B Mujumdar, Director, Symbiosis was also present.
