Kishore Kadam is one of the few actors who is equally comfortable doing Marathi, Hindi and English theatre. A Mumbaikar, his passion for acting started when he was still in school. And he is like any die-hard theatre actor who maintains that no other medium gives as much satisfaction as stage does. He has done numerous plays but some of his favourite roles are:
Pratibimb Hindi Cyclewala Hindi and Vada Chirebandi, Magna Talyakathi and Yugaant, an 8-hour Marathi triology. Says Kishore, quot; I have been slotted as a serious actor which is a bit sad as I would like to do light roles too.quot; At 29, he plans to continue doing theatre for some more time and then move on to films. But good theatre, however satisfying, doesn8217;t pay. Has he become cynical over the years? quot; No, I deliberately taught myself to live in a tight situation. So I have never felt the pinch, quot; says Kishore. As of now, he is also working in Hindi serials like Jhoota Sach and Laksh. On stage, he is making news with the much talked about Hindi play, Gandhi Viruddh Gandhi, where he plays Harilal, Gandhiji8217;s elder son. The play is about the conflict which existed between the two. Currently he is also doing the English play, If Wishes Were Horses. Beginning today, we start an occasional column familiarising you with faces you have seen often on stage, but know little about.
