Even as the BJP goes into election mode, senior party leader Sushma Swaraj has conveyed to L K Advani and Rajnath Singh that she will not contest the Lok Sabha elections. This at a time when at least some of the Rajya Sabha leaders who have come to dominate the saffron party may take the electoral plunge. A star campaigner in the recent Karnataka elections, Swaraj has been Delhi Chief Minister in the past and has many elections to her credit. Her contest against Sonia Gandhi in Bellary made her a star in the Karnataka, but she has been busy strategising for the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Instead of spending her energies in fighting a poll battle, she would prefer to continue in a similar role apart from scouting for probable BJP allies in the months to come.
