Bar flays assault on lawyer

CHANDIGARH, Oct 6: The District Bar Association general house today condemned the alleged illegal detention and assault on local advocate Arunjeev Singh Walia by Punjab Police officials posted at police station Central in S.A.S. Nagar.

During its emergency meeting, the members also decided to take quot;strict actionquot; against the quot;erring copsquot;. According to president, a criminal contempt petition would be filed in the High Court by the District Bar Association.

The secretary of the association, Jagtar Singh, was authorised to sign documents and engage counsel on the Association8217;s behalf, it was stated.
