The death sentence to Anand Mohan has come as a warning sign for several other politicians with criminal records.

Anand Mohan, former MP

Former MP Anand Mohan, who was sentenced to death for the murder of Gopalgunj District Magistrate by a trial court on Wednesday, faces a host of other criminal cases. He was accused in at least 28 criminal cases of which he was acquitted in 20, as witnesses turned hostile. In two cases, including the Krishnaiah murder case, he has been awarded punishment while six cases are pending.

Munna Shukla, JDU MLA

Along with Mohan, Munna Shukla, yet another don-turned-MLA, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday. He is the younger brother of once dreaded dons Chhotan Shukla and Bhutkun Shukla. He also faces a number of criminal cases, including the murder of former RJD minister Brij Bihari Prasad. Shukla is expected to be convicted in this murder case too.

Mohammad Shahabuddin, RJD MP

Dreaded Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin has already been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court in a case pertaining to the kidnapping of CPI-ML activist Chhote Lal Gupta on February 7,1999. Shahabuddin is currently facing 31 cases, out of which charges have been framed against him in eight cases.

Pappu Yadav, RJD MP

Pappu Yadav, the RJD MP from Madhepura who had emerged parallel to Anand Mohan, is cooling his heels in Tihar Jail, facing trial in the sensational murder of CPIM leader Ajit Sarkar. In all, he is facing trial in 45 criminal cases, including murder, kidnapping, extortion and three terms under National Security Act.

Surajbhan Singh, LJP MP

Surajbhan Singh, the Lok Janshakti Party MP from Ballia parliamentary constituency, is involved in over half-a-dozen criminal cases including the double murder of RJD leaders Akhilesh Rai and Ram Udesh Rai and the murder of CPIM leader Ajit Sarkar. Surajbhan Singh is considered to be close to Union Minister of Steel and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan.

Rajen Tiwary, former MLA, LJP

Rajen Tiwary of the Lok Janshakti Party is known for his criminal past. He has several criminal cases pending against him, including the murder of former CPIM leader Ajit Sarkar, and RJD leader Brij Bihari Prasad.

Sunil Pandey, JDU MLA

Sunil Pandey is the JDU MLA from Piroo constituency in Bhojpur district. He is currently lodged in Aurangabad jail, facing trial in an extortion case. He is also booked in several other extortion, kidnapping and murder cases.
