CHANDIGARH, April 7: All arrangements have been completed by the Badminton Coaches Welfare Association of India for its fourth national seminar-cum-clinic and annual general body meeting of the association to be held at Sector 42 Sports Complex here from April 9 to 11.

More than 90 coaches, specialists, sports scientists and sports medicine doctors from all over the country would attend the seminar-cum-clinic which will be inaugurated by Badminton Association of India senior vice-president and Haryana Urban Development Authority Administrator Devender Singh. The BAI treasurer Rajinder Kalsi will preside over the seminiar. Punjab Sports Director Col. Raminder Singh will be the chief guest on April 11.

Addressing mediapersons here today, BCWAI president and former national coach T.P.S. Puri disclosed that the panel experts would reply to the questions of the players, their parents and badminton lovers during an open session. Theory and practical part will go side by side each topic. Dr A Ghosh will deliver a lecture on physiological aspects in preparation for the millennium.

Sports Authority of India Netaji Institute of Sports, Patiala sports medicine doctor Ashok Ahuja will explain injuries in badminton, its prevention, rehabilitation and nutirition related to particular method of training for physical condition schedule.

The association president would dwell on the mental preparations with specific strength play in relation to the style.

International referee S. Murlidharan will explain the rules and the current laws governing the discipline.

T.P.S Puri said that the association, an affilaited unit of the Badminton Association of India, would extend financial assistance to S Parikh of Gujarat who died on court while imparting training. An initial amount of Rs 25,000 had already been given to his family. Another cheque of Rs 50,000 would be sent to his family soon.

The association is extending financial help from time to time to the needy families of the coaches. It is also planning to build a holiday home in Himchal Pradesh for its members. It will be either situated on the Dharampur-Kasuali road or near Solan.
