Comedian Khyalli returns to a city stage that made him what he8217;s today 8211; a man with many feathers in his cap
For someone who only studied till class five, then worked his way up as a watchman and then as a mill worker to finally taking to stage at the Plaza Carnival as a comic host, it8217;s been a long journey for Khyalli. Today, he8217;s not just one of the country8217;s leading stand-up comedians but is fast emerging as a bankable sidekick in Bollywood. 8220;Who would have known that a stage I once swept, would one day see me return as a star guest,8221; Khyalli goes reminiscent.
In town to perform on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Carnival, he8217;s all praise for the city that gave him all the support. 8220;While I did theatre for six years back home in Ganganagar, I never thought I would be a comedian till I was asked to do so for the Plaza Carnival,8221; tells the actor who won the Laughter Championship on television three years back and since then hasn8217;t looked back. 8220;I have been a part of all comedy shows since then. There are about a dozen I can list,8221; says the actor who was also seen in films like 8216;Bombay to Goa8217; and 8216;Singh is King8217;. 8220;Luckily I have a few more in the pipeline,8221; says Khyalli listing out upcoming releases. There8217;s 8216;The Party8217; followed by 8216;Meri Padosan8217;, 8216;One Fine Monday8217; and two untitled ones starring Sunny Deol and Govinda. 8220;I have worked hard and the results are showing. I don8217;t want to be just a comedian but an actor too,8221; says the man whose name doesn8217;t really have a story behind it. 8220;It8217;s not a funny name simply because many people in Rajasthan have such names. But I can tell you it8217;s a lucky one for me.8221; We can second that.
