In Holland I was robbed of a win this week by some atrocious line call overrules by the chair umpire. A possible straightforward victory fell through to a heart-breaking loss. Four dubious decisions, two of them on critical points in the tie-breaker, took away the first set in my match against Benesova.

Now these and all other issues take a backseat as it is 8216;Wimbledon time8217; and everything is focused on giving the championships one8217;s best shot. I8217;ve been practising hard and despite this being my fifth year, including my junior days, it still is awesome to be a part of the biggest show on earth.

It has been a long road for me right from the time I first watched the championships on television. I still remember that day way back in 2001, when I had just managed to get into the junior draw as a greenhorn 14-year-old.

In the days leading up to the event, I could find no one to practice with except my father because the coaches and players did not think an Indian girl was good enough to give them a decent hit!

Today, I have had experience of playing on the hallowed Centre Court 8212; and that is something that I had only dreamt about. Today I see familiar people and while practising, I can turn around and share a joke with some of the biggest names in the game today and I no longer need to hit with my father when I need a hitting partner!
