Last week after assuming office as Minister of State for Power, Jairam Ramesh was faced with a peculiar problem. A few days before the reshuffle, he had shot off a letter as the MoS, Commerce, to Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on some of the initiatives taken in the power sector with neighbouring Sri Lanka. After he got additional charge for power following the reshuffle, Ramesh noticed that the same letter he had written from the Commerce Ministry was now lying on his table waiting for an apt response from the Power Ministry. The ball clearly is in his own court now.
