Sharjah, April 9: The last thing the Indian cricket team wanted after half their side fell sick here was an injury to anyone else. But that was exactly what happened today during their Coca Cola tri-series game against England as skipper Mohammed Azharuddin and wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia joined the list of those out of action.Azharuddin got injured during his unbeaten 74 when he hit his left toe with the bat while playing the medium pace of Andrew Flintoff. After batting through the innings with Ajay Jadeja as runner, Azhar was taken to a local hospital during the break where an X-ray, luckily, showed no fracture.``Contrary to our earlier fears, his injury is not serious and he'll be fit to play the next game against England on Sunday,'' said team doctor Ravinder Chadha.Later, when the Indians fielded, Nayan Mongia was hit on the chin by a rising delivery from leg-spinner Anil Kumble after left-handed batsman Graham Thorpe missed the line of the ball. Rahul Dravid stood in for Mongia behind the stumpsand even managed to effect a stumping - Graeme Hick off Sunil Joshi.Not surprisingly, at one time there were three substitutes on the field for India - Hrishikesh Kanitkar for Azharuddin, Amay Khurasia for Srinath and Rohan Gavaskar for Mongia. Meanwhile, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar and Nikhil Chopra have yet to recover from the viral fever. If the illness afflicting almost half of the team was not enough, contradicting statements by team manager Anant Mate and BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele made it a sickening affair.While Mate said there would be no more replacements, Lele informed late in the evening that Debashish Mohanty and Virender Sehwag will be reaching tomorrow to replace Agarkar and Chopra who will be sent back home. He added that Sehwag's passport was with the Dutch embassy in Delhi and it may take some time before the Delhi player reaches here. ``Mohanty is definitely coming tomorrow,'' he added.
