MUMBAI, March 27: A record 158 entries have been received for the third Maruti Autocross to be held at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) on Sunday, March 28.
However, missing from the long list is the name of Sam Katgara, who had won this Sports Craft-organised event for five consecutive years previously. However, there are several other seasoned campaigners, like former National Rally champion Farad Bathena, his sister Navaz Bathena, Katgara’s rally co-driver Neville Poonawalla, Zoru Bathena, Afzal Khan, Kanti Bhanushali and Hormazd Sorabjee, who have entered the competition.
The event is being held in association with JK Tyres and the Indian Oil Corporation and co-sponsored by Citicrop and Maruti Countrywide Finance. They will all be eyeing the title of the “Fastest driver.”
Night schools cricket
The Mumbai Kannada Night School Ex-students Association will be conducting a One-day cricket tournament, sponsored by Kamal Bar & Restaurant (Vidyavihar), for Kannada night schools only onFriday, April 2 at the Sachivalaya ground, Oval maidan, from 7 a.m. onwards.
