
The automobile industry continued its bull run in November clocking double digit growth for the month. The growth was led by domestic car sales rose 28.5 per cent to 88,473 units in November this year compared to 68,841 units in the same month last year.
Motorcycle sales also increased by 15 per cent to 5,56,612 units in November 2006 as against 4,83,957 last year, according to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers SIAM.
Total sales of two-wheelers, including motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, grew 14.75 per cent to 674,692 units compared to 587,938 units in the same month a year ago.
Commercial vehicles sales increased 43.1 per cent to 40,317 units as against 28,174 units in November 2005.
Passenger car market leader Maruti led the charge in the segment with a 20.7 per cent increase in sales over November 2005. Maruti sold 52,574 units this year as against 43,568 units last year. Arch rival Hyundai also maintained the pace with a growth of 17.8 per cent but it proved to be an extraordinary month for Tata Motors which regaistered a 48.4 per cent growth in passenger cars in the month.
Overall automobile exports registered 27.25 per cent growth rate in April-November 2006 over the same period last year. Passenger Vehicles Exports grew by 11.83 per cent.
