Australians asked to take Twenty20 seriously

Aussies have been told to take T20 more seriously, as they seek to extend their world domination to this version of the game.

Australian cricketers have been asked to take Twenty20 cricket more seriously, as they seek to extend their world domination to the shortest version of the game.

8220;Cricket Australia has made a point to everyone playing this form of the game that this game Twenty20 is going to stand alone,8221; Michael Clarke, the Aussie captain in the one-off Twenty20 game against New Zealand, said.

8220;It is an important part of Australian cricket8221; he said.

CA has told its players to shape up for Twenty20 cricket, which is expected to be a big draw card at the international and domestic level.

8220;I think you will see Australia continue to take Twenty20 cricket as seriously as one-day cricket and Test cricket,8221; Clarke said adding 8220;It is a form of the game that now stands alone, and it is going to be around for a lot longer yet.8221;

The right-hander said Australia will improve in the format with time.

8220;We are probably one of the countries that hasn8217;t played too much Twenty20 cricket so the more we play, the better,8221; he said.

8220;We need to approach it differently, sorting out what is the best team for Australia, sorting out what guys are best suited,8221; Clarke said.

8220;We are certainly still learning and improving8230; we have got open minds to trial and error, to find out what is the best way for the Australian cricket team to win the 2009 world Twenty20 championships,8221; he added.
