India put up a shoddy display to be outplayed 1-4 by Olympic champions and holders Australia in their opening game of the 15th Azlan Shah hockey tournament at the Bukit Zalil stadium here today.

The Indians failed to capitalise on chances and conceded easy openings to the Aussies, losing momentum early in the match.

Troy Elder 6th minute, Matt Naylor 11th and 41st and Luke Doerner 62nd scripted the Australian onslaught while Tejbir Singh 22nd provided some consolation for the Indians.

India8217;s defence was exposed from the initial moments of game itself.
