CHANDIGARH, MARCH 5: Athletic Club, 12 Wing Air Force and YCC Club entered semifinals of the Chandigarh State senior basketball championship, which is being held at Sector 7 Sports Complex.In the match today, Athletic Club got the better of 107 Engineering Regiment 73-58. Half time score was 45-35, in favour of the eventual winners.Pradeep with 26 points top scored for Athletic Club. Aman shot 20 points. Arun Rana also contributed 7 points to the score.Sukhdev (22), Satish (17) and Laxman (7) scored for 107 ER.107 ER went down fighting to 12 Wing Air Force 46-78, in their second outing and are out of reckoning. Balak (24), SS Kaundal (17) were the main scorers for 12 Wing. Sukhdev sunk 24 points for the losers.However, the most exciting match of the day was between YCC Club and SD College, Sector 32, YCC Club after trailing by one point at the break 22-23, fought back strongly to win the contest by two points (48-46).Harjot and Amrish combined well for YCC and scored 14 and 10 points respectively. Hari Malhotra (10) and Vikramjit (8) also contributed to the score.Nirpinderjit shot 13 points while Harkanwar and Dinesh got 10 points each for SD-32.The Chandigarh Basketball Association will hold trials in the women's section to select probables for the forthcoming National meet, tomorrow at 3 p.m., at the Sector 7 Sports Complex.
