PUNE, May 26: A swashbuckling 132 from the blade of Ashok Barate spelt doom for Venus Cricket Club as they crashed to a 98-run loss to Warje Xi in te PDCA organised Summer League Saturday Division here today.
Warje XI who took the crease first piled up a huge 230 for the loss of three wickets which was mainly due to Ashok. His knock contained 22 hits to the fence. At the other end Ashok was ably supported by Vijay Ghorpade who scored an unbeaten 53.
Venus in reply failed to take off and lost wickets at regular intervals, with a resultant they were skittled out for 130 with Satish Pardeshi playing havoc scalping 5/17.
