Champions Arsenal made history on Wednesday by trouncing Blackburn Rovers 3-0 at Highbury to set a 43-match unbeaten league record in English football. Arsenal turned on the style in the second half with France striker Thierry Henry breaking the deadlock, while Spain8217;s Francesc Fabregas later claimed their second after the Spanish teenager touched an effort by Brazil midfielder Gilberto.

Henry then set up Spanish forward Jose Antonio Reyes for an easy third as Arsene Wenger8217;s side romped home.

Arsenal had equalled the previous 42-game record, set by Brian Clough8217;s Nottingham Forest between November 1977 and December 1978, in a thrilling 5-3 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Australia striker Mark Viduka scored on his debut as Middlesbrough beat Fulham 2-0, Newcastle United squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with promoted Norwich City and Steve Wigley8217;s first game in charge at Southampton ended in a 2-1 home defeat by Bolton Wanderers.

Striker Francis Jeffers marked his first start for Charlton Athletic with two goals in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa, while Jacques Santini8217;s Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 at West Bromwich Albion.
