NEW DELHI, June 19: Anil Kumar Mann of India stormed into the 83 kg final, but his compatriot Sunil Kumar 42 kg crashed out in the semi-finals following a reversal of decision as Indian grapplers continued with good showing on the second day of the Mahindra Tractors-11th World Cadet Free-style Wrestling Championship at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here today.
Anil Kumar floored Iranian Kamran Amiri in the semis to set up final clash with Tonasi of Poland.
However, Sunil Kumar was distinctly unlucky to lose against B Krystian of Poland in the semi-final after the referee had awarded the bout in favour of the Indian.
But following a protest lodged by the Polish team, the jury watched a videotape of the bout and reversed the earlier decision to knock the Indian out of contention for gold medal. Later, he went out of reckoning for the bronze also going down to I Amiran of Georgia.
Hopes of India bagging a bronze brightened with Ashok Kumar 69 overpowering B Shota of Georgia in 10 seconds flat even as Paramjit Singh 48 and Munna Lal Shekh of Delhi 83 lost vital bouts that would have kept them in hunt for bronze medals.
The other Indians who did their country proud today included Naresh Kumar 45, Ramesh Kumar 63 and Nishant 83-95, who qualified for the semi-final.
