CHANDIGARH, Jan 17: Anil Choudhary, who won man of the match award, with his splendid knock of 62 runs steered PGI XI to one wicket victory over Godrej Cricket Club to win the title in the Aadunik Cup League cricket tournament held at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.

Anil Choudhary came to the crease when other batsmen in the team were struggling to stay at the wicket against the hostile spell of Sandeep and Sandeep Modgil. The duo reduced the PGI XI to 48 for 6 in the 17th over.But Anil picked up the pace scored 62 runs off 68 ball which included ten boundaries to take the total to 145 runs and guide his team to victory in the 34th over. Vikas Bhardwaj also contributed 17 runs to the score.

Aman and Rajesh also scapled two wickets each for PGI XI.

Earlier, Godrej CC won the toss and elected to bat. The team never seems to recover after initial hiccups and could get 124 runs in the allotted 35 overs.

Girish Bhanot 26 and Sandeep Sandhu 22 were the main run getters for the team.

Amit got three while Manoj and Anil Choudhary took two wickets each for the eventual winner.

Rajinder Singh and Amit Bhardwaj were declared the best batsman and the bowler respectively. Girish Bhanot got the best all-rounder award.
