Samajwadi Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh today returned BSP chief Mayawati8217;s charges against the party over the cash-for-queries scam, saying the Mulayam Singh Yadav government had enough 8216;8216;evidence8217;8217; of corruption against her to send her to jail.
Mayawati had, yesterday, charged the SP with motivating the sting operation against her MPs. Singh today said he had 8216;8216;evidence of corruption8217;8217; against her, including in the Taj Corridor case.
8216;8216;We have enough evidence against her including corruption in the Taj case. If we act in these cases, she will be in jail. We know the Congress has done everything to protect Mayawati,8217;8217; he said. The UPA Government at the Centre had, he said, submitted before Supreme Court Mayawati8217;s non-culpability in the case.
Asked why the state government had not proceeded against Mayawati if it had proof, Singh had no reply but said 8216;8216;the time will come8217;8217;.
Singh8217;s outburst comes after Mulayam8217;s accusation against the Congress-led UPA two days ago that it was targeting him, his brother, and son, in various cases of land grab and income fraud.
