NEW DELHI, OCT 13: Chandigarh seems to be making all the news in the men8217;s sections of the DSCL Open this year. While Sunil Kumar and Akshay Vishal Rao took the men8217;s and boys8217; under-18 titles last week, this week under-16 top seed Amanjot Singh seems on way to corner glory.

The 15-year-old got through a tough pre-quarterfinal against Delhi8217;s Nikhil Vijay Murali 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Amanjot, who has beaten Nikhil in their five previous encounters, was up 3-0 in the first set before his game went haywire as Nikhil took the next five games in a row. Though Amanjot made it 4-5, the Delhi boy held on for the set.

But after that early scare, Amanjot really didn8217;t have any problem and cruised through to take the next two sets.

Amanjot will next play unseeded Maharashtra youngster Gavryl Fernandes, who beat Somdev K Dev Varman TN 6-3, 7-6 7-4.
