Saying that 8216;8216;all options are open8217;8217;, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi on Thursday said the government would consult all political parties on redefining offices of profit.

Taking the line that it was not an issue that concerns the Congress alone, Dasmunsi said, 8216;8216;The government will try to arrive at a consensus after consulting political parties whether to bring an ordinance or an amendment to Article 102 through Parliament to remove the shortcomings in the legal provisions. All options are open,8217;8217; Dasmunsi said.

However, he did not say when such a meeting would be called. 8216;8216;It is for the Prime Minister to decide and convene such a meeting,8217;8217; he said.

He also pointed that when the post of Leader of Opposition was brought at par with that of a Cabinet minister, an amendment was brought made to remove it from the office-of-profit list. A similar exercise was undertaken for the post of Deputy, Planning Commission, he said. Dasmunsi added that several MPs, including BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, have been pressing for amending the list of offices of profit.

On the Budget session, he said, 8216;8216;The government is yet to complete the formalities.8217;8217;
