I have been a long-time reader of The Indian Express for different reasons. One of them being that your paper has had great sport pages over the period, including writers like Ron Hendricks, who used to write on various issues and disciplines. But, of late, more than 60 per cent of your main pages are consumed by cricket. We hardly get to read about disciplines like tennis and athletics. Of course, you have an overdose of soccer, particularly the EPL variety.I know the Soccer World Cup is around the corner and almost all papers are pushing to put their best foot forward. But unfortunately, what8217;s India8217;s stake? Nevertheless, we all would like to see the foreign teams performing and, in any case, we get to see them on television. Hence, why waste precious space by giving huge match reports?
Instead, it would be nice if you publish some interesting trivia. While I have reservation on too much of cricket and foreign soccer, I would like to put on record here that you are the only paper that is giving enough space to local events8212; and some nice stories, too. Keep it up.

7-bat format for India
India8217;s second consecutive one-day loss in the West Indies must provoke a rethink by the brains trust of the current strategy. Greg Chappell8217;s preference for a flexible batting order is all very well. But given the quality of India8217;s bowling attack, the coach and skipper Rahul Dravid must consider reverting to the team composition that took them to the final of the World Cup in 2003: seven batsmen. India, at present are not making the most of bowling qualities of Yuvraj, Raina and Sehwag

Of lesser sports
Your paper seems to have taken a lead over others by giving coverage to 8216;lesser8217; events like boxing, wrestling and problems plaguing Indian sport. Well done but we would like to see more and more feature stories, including some profiles on sportspersons.
