Airtel offers Smart Roam facility

SHIMLA, Nov 20: Airtel, which operates mobile phone service in Himachal Pradesh, has offered free “Smart Roam” facility to its subscribers. The subscribers availing the facility will not be charged for monthly rents and only be asked to pay for actual calls while they travel to other towns.

According to an Airtel release, cellular subscribers traveling out of Delhi or India will retain the same 10-digit Airtel cellphone number, regardless of their location. They can use their Delhi Airtel number in over 111 cities in India and in 11 countries all over the world. The “Smart Roam” International will soon be expanded to 40 countries all over the world. Airtel will also be utilising the services of the International Roaming Platforms (IRPs) to expand the coverage area of international roaming.
