CBI sleuths today arrested Hyderabad Airport Director K. Ramakrishna after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a shop-owner late last night.

Ramakrishna is one of the senior officials of the Airports Authority of India AAI in the rank of general manager and was head of the AAI8217;s airport here. He was produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases Ravi Kumar this afternoon.

The CBI officials also found unaccounted cash deposits to the tune of Rs 10 lakh in the State Bank of India branch at Vidyanagar, two-three houses and other valuables, altogether worth about Rs 40 lakh.

8216;8216;Investigations are on and a case of disproportionate assets to the known sources of income is likely to be registered against him,8217;8217; CBI sources said.

Sources said that Ramakrishna allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from the complainant, Shailendra Ojha, who was allotted a shop in the airport8217;s domestic and international terminals for selling audio and video cassettes in August 2004.

Ojha was to deposit Rs 13 lakh within 15 days towards the allotment of shops. As he failed to do so, the AAI authorities blacklisted him from awarding further contracts for a period of three years.

Subsequently, Ojha approached the airport director seeking his help but the latter demanded Rs 1 lakh to condone the delayed payment.

Ojha brought the matter to the notice of the CBI officials who laid a trap. As Ramakrishna accepted the first installment of Rs 20,000, a team of CBI officials led by a deputy superintendent of police arrested him, sources said.
