As long suspected, the Pakistan Cricket Board has sent a letter to the BCCI expressing its concerns over Ahmedabad as a venue for the forthcoming series.
Confirming the receipt of the letter BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told The Sunday Express that the matter would be referred to the goverment.
‘‘The PCB has written a letter to the BCCI president expressing some reservations over Ahmedabad as a venue. We have now taken up the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs,’’ said Shukla.
PCB chairman Shahryar Khan had hinted as much on Friday when contacted by this paper. The letter from the PCB was sent on Friday itself since Saturday is a weekly holiday for the PCB office.
Such letters are usually addressed to the BCCI secretary SK Nair but since he is away in Melbourne, it was addressed to president Ranbir Singh Mahendra.
It is now expected that Chennai’s MA Chidabaram Stadium will come into the picture as a replacement venue for Ahmedabad.
