After the deluge, the party

The floods in Bihar mean different things to different people: misery for the masses, bonus income for relief suppliers and bonanza time for the unscrupulous. Now the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee leaders have found some innovative ways to cash in on this calamity. They set up a Congress relief committee to accept donations for flood relief and got it registered in order to avail income tax benefits. It8217;s probably the only of the rare political units in the country to have such a registered committee. Although only a few lakh rupees have trickled into the panel8217;s coffers so far, the state Congress leaders, having suffered for long in political wilderness, see a better future ahead.
