
NEW DELHI, SEPT 10: Asian Development Bank ADB is likely to approve loan proposals worth 625 million for three projects in India in the last quarter of 1999, a senior bank official has said.
Among the three proposals are 175 million for Karnataka urban infrastructure project, 250 million for Madhya Pradesh public resource management programme and 200 million for urban and environmental infrastructure fund, Peter Pattison, implementation officer, ADB, told a seminar on bank funded projects here yesterday.
He said the lending pipeline for India for the next few years would amount to 1 billion to 1.5 billion.
In the energy sector, the bank lending would focus on policy reforms and development at the state level through loan and technical assistance operations in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, the bank8217;s two focal states, he said.
The bank was working on a similar assistance package for energy sector in a third state, he said. The bank would also lend to selected states for power sector reforms through its proposed loan to Power Finance Corporation PFC, Pattison said.
