The 31st All India Accounting Conference and International Seminar on Accounting Education and Research was held at Gujarat University (GU) on Sunday. But the varsity authorities are to be blamed for organising the conference in the campus when there has been no auditing of the varsity accounts for the last three years. “It is a matter of shame for GU, as no work has been carried out till now despite several reminders to Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi, and to the members of the Board of Accounts,” said Manish Doshi, Member, Executive Council, GU.He added: “The Indian Accounting Association has also not researched and bothered to find out whether GU should carry out auditing work or not.” Kaushi Jain and Harjeetsingh Sikh, members of the Board of Accounts, GU, agreed over this issue. He told Newsline: “It’s been over three years that GU accounts have not been audited. Moreover, no meeting had been called on this issue in the recent past. We have no idea as to when the next meeting will be held to discuss this matter.”Sudhir Nanavati, Senior Member, Executive Council, GU, said, “I have no idea whether the auditing work of the accounts of GU has been carried out or not for the last three years.”Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi and Chief Accounts Officer, Minesh Shah, were not available to comment. Around 600 delegates from Gujarat and 14 other Indian states participated in the conference. During the two-day event, 230 research papers by Indian as well as international researchers were presented. It was jointly organised by the Gujarat (Ahmedabad) branch of the Indian Accounting Association, in collaboration with the Sheth Damodardas School of Commerce, GU, at the GU Senate Hall.
