
AMBALA, Jan 10: The Ambala police have succeeded in arresting a former Army Major who was absconding, along with his accomplices including two women wanted in the murder case of a young farmer Inderjit Singh resident of a village under the Barara police station in the district. Disclosing this, the Superintendent of Police M.S. Malik stated that the ex-Army Major Kulwant Singh Gill, his wife Narinder Pal Kaur, driver Lakhwinder Singh allas Baggu along with his wife Lakhwinder Kaur and three other accused Subhash, Bala and Sandip Kumar from Shahabad, had come in two cars waylaying Inderjit while he was returning to his residence from his fields. Major Kulwant Singh retd opened fire killing Inderjit in the outskirts of the village. All the accused escaped in their two vehicles after committing the crime, the SP informed.
The police, he said, had sounded an alert in the neighbouring districts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and also Mumbai and Guwahati and police parties were despatched to apprehend the alleged killer. He further said that airport authorities and Attari border authorities were also sounded lest the accused, including the main culprit Major Kulwant Singh, crossed the border to the other country. He disclosed that the former Major and other accomplices were arrested after raiding several suspected hideouts at different places. He said that while the Major was in police custody till January 11, rest of the accused had been sent to jail. It is learnt that Inderjit was killed because he had not approved of Lakhwinder and his wife8217;s employment with the former Major. Lakhwinder was related to Inderjit.
