
As far as edifices go, the structure housing Army Headquarters is not an inspiring one, even for government buildings. But the squat, warehouse-like Sena Bhavan could soon be sporting a new look. Overshadowed by the impressive DRDO complex that has come up next door, the Army is pushing for a complete renovation of the Bhavan. What is more, its makeover will now constitute part of the larger effort of the Urban Development Ministry to spruce up South Block and create underground parking space for offices in and around Raisina Hill. A committee has been set up for the purpose and proposals are being examined. The news is welcome, though perhaps a little late in the day.
