
Following a tip-off, the Faraskhana police on Friday rescued six girls including five minors from a brothel in Budhwar Peth.
The police raided home no. 1070 on the second floor of the Old Welcome Lodge where they found five minor girls and one girl aged 20 locked up in the bathroom of the house.
Police said that the six girls were brought from Assam under the pretext of getting them jobs. However, when they reached the city they were sold off to a brothel owner named Sushila.
According to the girls Sushila regularly used to beat them and abuse them. Police officers also said that it was she who forced them into prostitution. She would take away all the money earned by the girls and would keep them in humiliating conditions.
When the brothel was raided on Friday the police arrested Sushila, a resident of Taj Mahal building in Budhwar Peth, her accomplices, Sayali Tamang, 35, of Nepal Ramzan Ali, Dillu, Ramzan, Farookh and Deep alias Sadiq Islam.
Police said, the five girls were aged between 15-16. After being rescued the girls have been sent to the Mahila Seva Grah in Mundhwa. All the accused have been remanded to police custody. The police are also probing whether other such girls have been kept in captivity by the accused.
They have all been booked under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The Faraskhana police also said that the relatives of the girls have been contacted. They will now be sent to Sassoon hospital for a medical examination. Till then they will be kept at a house in Mundhwa. Once all the necessary formalities are completed they will be sent back home to their parents.
