
KAPURTHALA, Oct 22: Five persons including three women were killed, while five others were injured in a head-on collision between a mini bus and a Punjab roadways bus near village Gadana, on the Amritsar-Jalandhar stretch of the G.T Road, on Wednesday night.
The dead have been identified as Sone d/o Madan Lal, Gyano w/o Mangal Dass, Kaushalya Rani w/o of Baldev Raj, Madan Lal, and driver of the mini busall residents of Mandi Haripur.
The injured admitted to a hospital in Amritsar are Soni, daughter of Mangal Dass, Gian Chand s/o Budh Ram, Surjit Lal s/o Sant Ram, Usha Rani w/o Surjit Lal and Harmesh Rani w/o Madan Lal.
According to the police, the mini bus carrying a marriage party was on its way to Amritsar from Jalandhar. The Punjab roadways Batala-bound bus PB-12C-9877 was going to Delhi from Fathegarh Churain when it collided with mini bus coming from opposite direction, while overtaking a truck.
The dead bodies were brought to local civil hospital for post-mortem.
Bilaspur: One person was killed on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries when bus no HP-24-4556, fell hundred feet down near Dhuni Pancail on Nagoan-Beri Road around 11 pm last night, according to information received here today.
Krishnuram, Nambardar of Dhunipanjail panchayat, who had boarded the ill-fated bus just before the accident was killed. Those seriously injured include Jagnath driver, Bhagaram conductor and a passenger Prem Lal.
All of them have been admitted to the district hospital. The district administration has given Rs 10,000 to the next of kin of the deceased and to each of the injured. Meanwhile, Kotkehloor MLA Ram Lal Thakur visited the injured this morning. He expressed shock over death of Khishnuram. Health Minister J.P. Nadda has also expressed grief over those killed in the accident.
